Suncoast Career Academy

Suncoast Career Academy (SCA) originally started to fulfill a need for exceptional education in healthcare career fields with a high employee rotation.  SCA is approved by the Florida Board of Dentistry for Expanded Functions Dental Assisting (EFDA)/Radiology.  SCA is also licensed by the Florida Board of Pharmacy to provide Pharmacy Technician training.  Our school Department of Education license number is #6044.  We are very proud to continue to provide high-quality education with direct hands-on training at an affordable price to anyone wanting a career in healthcare!  Is that you?

What We Teach

Our entry-level Dental Assistant (EFDA/Radiology) program includes courses in dental anatomy, sterilization, patient care, dental radiology, restorative dentistry, chairside assisting and many other subjects to prepare you for a career in dental assisting.   All courses are supplemented with clinical laboratory time to enhance your educational experience with live hands-on training.  At the end of the classroom/lab portion of the course, the student will practice their skills at their externships.

Our Pharmacy Technician program includes Pharmacy Law, Medical Terminology, Pharmaceutical calculations, Body systems, and compounding along with many other required subjects.  At the end of the classroom/lab portion of the course, the student will practice their skills at their externships.  After all aspects of the course are complete, the student is qualified to register with the Department of Health, Board of Pharmacy, to obtain a Registered Pharmacy Technician license.

Our Medical Assistant program is also outstanding.  The program includes topics such as Medical terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Pharmacology, Laboratory procedures and many other required areas.  At the end of the classroom/online/lab portion of the program, the student will complete an externship.  After all course units and externship is completed, the student will be qualified and encouraged to take the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam at a testing center.

CPR is offered for the programs included in the tuition and all programs strictly adhere to Florida statutes.

How We Do It

At SCA we know the value of a quality education and the importance of keeping education and training linked. What is learned in the classroom is practiced in a clinical laboratory setting at their externship site under strict supervision by certified and licensed professionals currently working in the career field. We are not satisfied until our students can demonstrate they know the concepts taught and can apply what they learn.

√ *Tuition: $3,900.00 for Entry-level Dental Assistant (DA) (EFDA/Radiology) program; $3,250 for Pharmacy Technician program; and $8,900 for Medical Assistant program.  Tuition cost INCLUDES uniform voucher, lab fees, lab supplies, PPE, CPR class/certification and graduation fees.  The Medical Assistant program has additional lab fees not part of tuition.

√ Eligibility: Must be 18 years old or older with valid HS Diploma or GED. The minimum age for the Pharmacy Technician program is 17 years old.  All courses taught in English.
Basic computer skills advised. Background checks performed. Pharmacy Technician course has a basic entrance exam. Immunizations required.

√  Length: DA & PhT - 5 month program. Fast-paced, thorough, and hands on. High placement rate! MA - 10.75 month comprehensive program.

Externship options available. SCA does not perform dental services for the public.
